I did some excessive 'cleanup' (hijackthis, deleting restore points, temp files) and now I can't go past welcome screen. When I click username or Ctrl+Alt+Del, it shows "Loading user setting" then "Saving user setting" and I'm back on the welcome screen. If after F11, I select Safe mode, I get extra Administrator option, which also resets
Restore the Windows XP Welcome Screen. 1. Verify that not only do you have multiple acccounts but that they are also all active. 2. Some 3rd party applications replace the Windows XP logon routine

stuck at welcome screen Thanks for the response. I can, using user accounts from the control panel, get rid of the welcome screen. But that's not the problem. There are other users set up on the computer. The problem is how to get past the welcome screen to the desktop.
Re: Mouse and keyboard not working at welcome screen? I'm waiting a good fifteen minutes each time. My problem's exactly the same as this guys (more updated and in detail), ignore the other link. The mouse and keyboard light up on the BIOS screen, but shut down at the Windows startup process.
