Wings for 1090 is much smaller that original silencer. It is also much lighter. Wings weights only 2 kg. I couldn't measure the weight of stock silencer, as my little scale is limited to 5 kg and it is heavier than that. Wings comes with very nice bracket and installation is a breeze. The 790 Adventure R is significantly lighter as well, weighing in at claimed 189kg (dry) compared to 217kg (dry) for the 1290. That’s significant. Related: 2018 KTM 790 Duke launch review. The KTM 790 Adventure R’s torquey nature is felt early on, before starting to kick along at 4000rpm and then really punching hard at 6000rpm.
I'm searching for some honest opinions. I will purchase a new bike within the next few weeks and the short list is the 2020 1290 Super Adventurer R & the 2021 Multistrada V4S. I love my KTM I have now but looking to up grade and I'd say that I ride 30% off road, 70% on. The cost of the bikes will be about the same as I'd need to have the 1290
KTM 1190 Adventure: 92.2 lb-ft/124.8 Nm @ 7500 rpm. KTM 1290 Super Adventure S: 101.7 lb-ft/138 Nm @ 6500 rpm. So, even if the new 1290 is a bigger and more powerful motorcycle, it’s also more manageable in terms of power and delivery—similar to its “German cousin” (the BMW GS1250 delivers 143 Nm @ 6250 rpm)
