Just the power from my uDAC3 is enough to drive my 250ohm DT770s pretty well, but an extra powerful amp is never out of place with "studio" 250ohm headphones. 2: If your old headphones had massive bass boost (+20b etc) then the +6 to 8db of the DT990s may seem anemica at first. 3: The DT990s go right down to 20hz.
Feb 1, 2021. #154. DT990 is supposed to be the brightest of the classics, so issues in treble are to be expected. but I am kind of surprised with bass results - DT770 and DT880 have amazing bass (subjectively), Sennheiser and AKG aren't even close.

There’s no denying that the DT 990 PRO does have a very Beyer-like character, but that’s no bad thing, especially if exceptional spaciousness and detailed tonal depth is what you’re after. While we wouldn’t really recommend these for tracking or casual listening, we’d definitely consider them for mixing duties
Beyerdynamic also claims that there is no difference between the 32 ohm and 600 ohm version of the DT 990, which is wrong. The fact is, the DT 880 black, as you can see in the link I have provided, has substantially more bass than the Edition model. Dont trust marketing, no matter what they say.
